In your blog, post the following three writings about Signature Strengths:Writing 1:
What are other “good things” about people — personality traits like ”creative, wise, brave, honest, enthusiastic, kind, etc.” — qualities that make our lives better and which we can use to improve our happiness and success? We call these attributes “signature strengths.” List a few and — in your own words — explain what they mean.
Writing 2:
Think about a time in your life that you showed that you had one of these signature strengths. Think about it, remember what happened, what the circumstances were, what you did and why you did it. How did you feel about what you did, and what did it show you about yourself? Write a short essay (150 – 200 words) about this incident and what it showed you about one of your strengths.
Writing 3:
On your blog, tell what you consider to be your five signature strengths. Briefly give examples of the role that signature strength has played in your life.
I was interested in mermaids so i read a blog about them. I liked this blog because it told the original story of the little mermaid, written in 1836 by Hans Christian Andersen.
The original story is that on the mermaid’s 15th birthday she get to go to the surface. On that day she saw a prince on his boat celebrating. Then a storm appeared and the prince fell from his boat in to the water. The mermaid saved him and put him on shore and then swam away when she heard others approaching — a group of girls from the local monastery.
The little mermaid became obsessed with the prince, so she went to see the sea witch. The sea witch gave her a potion that made her human, but she had to give up her voice.
The Little Mermaid goes to the shore where she left the prince, drinks the potion and goes through unbelievable pain to have her tail split into two legs. The Little Mermaid was told that if the prince could not love her enough to forget his parents for her then she would die but mermaids do not have an after life like humans.
They become foam on the top of the oceans. It’s a trade off for their ability to live for 300 years.
The prince found the Little Mermaid and took her to his castle. There he becomes very fond of the little mermaid. He loved her but not enough to forget about his parents. Because he truly loved the girl who saved him when he washed ashore but they could not be together because of her studies at the monastery.
But he told the little mermaid, that if he could not find that girl he would marry her. The prince found out that he must go and visit a nearby Kingdom at the request of his parents. While on the ship at sea the little mermaid was visited by her sisters and was told how unhappy their family was with out her.
They arrived at the kingdom and to the prince’s great surprise the princess that he was to marry was the very girl who he fell in love with when he washed on shore that day.
The little mermaid stood by and watched him marry the princess, this other woman. That evening sailing home on the ship, the little mermaid’s sisters appeared at the surface. Completely bold. They gave her a knife and told her that if she killed the prince with the knife his blood will give her back her fins and she could come back home.
And the reason why they are bold was because they traded their hair for the knife.
The little mermaid went to where the love of her life and the other woman were sleeping and was about to strike the heart of the prince. But she couldn’t.
She loved him too much to hurt him even if he didn’t love her back. So she threw both herself and the knife into the ocean.
Instead of dieing she realizes she is being lifted up. The daughters of the air rescued her. They made the little mermaid one of them so that she could earn an eternal soul through the protection of children.

Find a blog that is different from your culture, ethnicity, political point of view, etc. Write a one paragraph review of the Blog, and write one paragraph telling about something new you learned.
Answer
I read about the Jamaican culture. It has many different ethnic groups.
The largest group is the blacks, meaning that the Jamaican-culture is mainly black. But the other ethnic groups is also the European culture which these blacks learnt from their former slaves masters. You will find Indians living in Jamaica also. Many Indians came to the island as indentured servants and stayed, they too have an input in the Jamaican-culture.
The skin of many of the blacks is not very blue black as many other black races but is different hues light to dark chocolate brown because of the different mixture of blood. They are a pleasant set of people, many are beautiful in their physical features.
Have you had the experience of hearing the real Jamaican language? Jamaica-culture has a language that is one of the most colorful of all the Caribbean Islands. You really should hear a Jamaican curse. There is no comparison it. In this language one word can mean many different things. The language carries a lot of feelings and can sound very aggressive to those who do not understand it.
You will be thrilled by the Jamaican-culture of music especially the reggae. You cannot resist gyrating, foot stamping and finger snapping to Jamaican music even if it is gospel music. Some are now classified as traditional dances. Jamaica is also accredited as the country of origin for Reggae.
Dress is one of the marks of the people. They are known to be one of the best dressed people in the world. They like bright colors and very fashionable styles. If you find one who different it is because there is not the means to do so or because of their religious practices. The ladies do not consider themselves dressed without a fabulous hair style which can run into thousands of dollars.
Here are my five blogs that represent a culture or point of view different from my own:
Here’s the Official BLOG DAY blog!
This is BlogHer – a blog written from a female POV.
I wanted to find a political blog that expressed a Red State / conservative perspective, since my own politics are very liberal / progressive. But I had trouble finding one I could really recommend. So here’s a particular post on the RED STATE blog that I found interesting.
My weakest academic area is Math — so I looked for a Math blog. Sorry — this is a pretty lame excuse for a Mathmatics Blog. It’s called “Mathmatics Blog.”
Okay, that blog sucked so bad I had to go find another one. Let’s try a math teaching blog that could have some ideas for Independent Study: Homeschool Math Blog
Culturally, I’ll admit to being pretty ignorant about Islam, so with all the endlessly negative news and oppinions about Muslims, I wanted to read a blog from an Islamic point of view. Here’s veiled4allah.
